Happy New Year!
Matt and I are ringing in the new year with colds…. noses that alternate between runny and stuffy, sore throats, and just for fun – I’ve got cramps, too!
Needless to say, my writing is off to a slow start this January. But… it’s SO close to “done.” Or at least what I’ve decided to call done…
My father-in-law asked me the other day what I was going to do when my writing was done… “Just print it out?”
Ha! I’ve “printed it out” about thirty times in various forms at various stages. If just printing my collection of words constituted a book, I would have personally filled a small library by now.
“No. My next step is to try to get an agent,” I replied in the most sheepish voice one could imagine.
As soon as I finish editing my last seven pages and then make my new Microsoft Word read my whole story to me(!) so I can listen for mistakes – I have every intention of sending out my first query emails. (Ideally yet this month.)
But today…. I’m going to sit on the couch with Celeste Ng’s Little Fires Everywhere and maybe an immune-boost smoothie and try to psych myself up to finish my edits in the next few days.
Little Fires Everywhere is on my list. Let me know how you like it. I, too, just got a new computer before I actually needed one. My desktop is only 4 or 5 years old, but I decided I just had to have a new MacBook Air (I’ve always been a Mac fan.) Good luck with editing! My favorite thing to do whenever I had editing to be done was procrastinate!
